Social Development

The Elim-Bredasdorp Road building project was a lead project by Department of Public Works and Administration and the Expanded Public Works Programme, South Africa.

It included an extensive Social Development Programme and was advertised as the single largest training allocation of Department of Labour (< 1000 unemployed / employed people trained & mentored) nationally, as for and up until 2006/07.

Africa Inroads involvement stemmed from initial research assistance to Haw & Inglis as in the preparation for the tender bid and evolved into a full-time, 2 year contracted project management role for the Construction and Non-Construction Training component of the Road Building Project. The Project Manager for the Training initiative was Helen du Toit.
