Kawa Counselling

KavaCounsellingKAWA (pronounced ‘Ka-va’) Counselling project provides qualified and much needed psychological counselling at schools that cannot otherwise afford psycho-social intervention. It focuses on the skillful intertwining of our resources to support and strengthen children, giving them brighter, more hope-filled futures. The Kawa Counselling Program is run in some of the disadvantaged communities of the Overberg.

Kawa Counselling has been assisting at Die Bron Primary as well as at Mount Pleasant Primary Schools since beginning 2010. Depending on the schools’ needs, large scale behavioural-affect needs are addressed with group work and severe cases are dealt with in one-on-one sessions. Kawa provides therapy for up to fifty children a week. Kawa’s aim is to reach out in practical and meaningful ways in order to influence, support and protect vulnerable, precious lives in desperate need for care and help.Kawa Counselling not only addresses the mental health of our vulnerable children but uses the wider community to create a sustainable environment of awareness and support.
